MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Hello! My name is Mikalah Lauberth. I am a Certified ISR Instructor, a licensed registered nurse, and a proud mom of two boys. Before beginning my nursing career, I also worked in a daycare for over four years, from high school through college. These experiences have given me a strong background in caring for children and supporting their individual needs.
My first experience with ISR was when my oldest son began lessons at just eight months old. Through his first ISR session, he learned how to roll back and independently maintain a float. Because my father-in-law has a pond at his home and our family lives near the river, my husband and I knew that giving our son these skills could only benefit him if he ever found himself in the water alone.
I was completely amazed that my little boy could develop such important skills at only eight months old. Throughout his lessons, I found myself asking our ISR instructor question after question because I was so interested in the process and eager to understand how and why the lessons worked. Seeing how inquisitive and passionate I had become, my husband looked at me and asked, “You want to do this, don’t you?”
He was right!
I decided to pursue my ISR certification immediately after my oldest son completed his lessons, while I was expecting my second child. At the time, I was balancing life as a stay-at-home mom during the day, working PRN at the hospital in the evenings/overnight, and helping manage aspects of our other businesses. Becoming an ISR Instructor felt like a natural complement to my background in childcare and nursing, while also giving my entrepreneurial heart the meaningful purpose it desired. It offered me the opportunity to continue caring for children, use my professional experience, and help young children develop skills that could one day save their lives.
I have been a Certified ISR Instructor since 2026, and I am deeply passionate about teaching young children the skills of ISR Self-Rescue®. My experience as a mother, registered nurse, and former daycare provider allows me to approach each child with patience, compassion, and an understanding that every child learns differently.
I am proud to be a part of ISR and its core mission of “Not One More Child Drowns.” As a Certified ISR Instructor, I complete ongoing education and annual recertification requirements. I also maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.
It is an honor to help children build confidence and essential skills in the water while providing their families with greater peace of mind.
